My word what a sight !!! I have to say though that I always love the glasses that these types of ladies wear - that cream pair on the third lady down are just gorgeous; I'd love a pair like that - sadly everything in our neck of the woods seems to be boxy square.

Me too Becky, I love the more eccentric women, but am terrified of the plastic ones!!

Penny Dreadful Vintage

Oh dear, not good. I feel a little sorry for them.

Sensible Footwear

These are great photos. Must have been fascinating checking out the lives of these women.

Ooh dear, yes a lesson to all. Mind you, by the time I arrive at that stage (I'm reckoning on another 15 yrs) I'm hoping a face-lift-in-a-bottle will be readily available as a lotion so no need to actually go under the knife!

We see a lot of the freakish cosmetic surgery results here in LA too (esp. Beverly Hills!): snipped noses, Pike's Peak cheek implants, glacially frozen foreheads, and of course the ubiquitous Trout Pout.

That's Not My Age

Yeah that and Joan Rivers!

I just read an interview with Cher (65) who was on the cover of the new Vanity Fair. The photos all look actually great, heavily retouched of course (she has a great figure and does not look her age) but I also happened to see her live on an evening talk show and her face is freakish with no expression,a mask, almost as freaky as Michael Jackson's was.
But when you read the interview with her she is such a smart, warm and down to earth woman and to me that's scary. Those ladies of Fifth Avenue do not surprise me looking as they do but someone as intelligent, outrageous, talented and fun as Cher, Why?? I just don't get it.
